Deep Silver опубликовал новую версию демо, в которой устранен баг с видеокартами nVidia 6-й и 7-й серии.
Игроки, которые не имели проблем с этим багом, могут использовать старую версию

Новая версия обозначена в файле для скачивания аббревиатурой "ESRB".

Deep Silver hat eine neue Version der Demo veröffentlicht, in der der Grauschleier-Bug bei nVidia-Grafikkarten der 6. und 7. Generation entfernt wurde. User, die nicht von dem Bug betroffen sind, können weiterhin die alte Demoversion benutzen.

Die neue Version lässt sich durch das Kürzel "ESRB" am Ende des Dateinamens erkennen.

Die PC Games Hardware hat sich dem Thema Kantenglättung in Risen angenommen. Bekanntlich wird Anti-Aliasing in Risen nicht von Haus aus unterstützt. Mit einigen Tricks lässt dich das aber umgehen. Wie die Kantenglättung auf verschiedenen Grafikkarten dennoch aktiviert werden kann, erläutert der Artikel der PC Games Hardware . Wie der Unterschied ausfällt, zeigt eine passender Bildergalerie. Die PC Games vergleicht auf ihrer Webseite pcgames.de die Grafikqualität von Gothic 3 und Risen. In einer umfangreichen Galerie werden die beiden Spiele in Kategorien wie Sichtweite, Innenraumbeleuchtung, Darstellung von Wasser, den Holztexturen, der Darstellung von Lagerfeuern, Kerzenflammen, den Charaktermodellen oder der Vegetationsdichte gegenüber gestellt. Risen schneidet in fast allen Vergleichen besser ab, in einigen sehr deutlich. So zum Beispiel in der Darstellung des Meeres oder der Ausleuchtung von Höhlen.

Die Seite GameReport.de schreibt keine Spielepreviews und -reviews, sondern stellt diese ganz komfortabel als Videos ins Netz. Im gestern erschienenen GameReport #004 wird unter anderem das Rollenspiel Risen behandelt. Allerdings fand das Spiel nicht besonders viel Anklang, wenn man den Worten des Sprechers Glauben schenkt, der an vielen Dingen etwas auszusetzen hatte.

GameObserver published a review for RISEN. With a final rating of 86, the reviewer praises Piranha Bytes' attempt to create an "old school" RPG which is not "dumbed down" and not simply a shooter like recent games from Bethesda and BioWare. However, the small size of the game world and the general quest variety in the last two chapters are criticised.

Excerpt:

Unfortunately, players new to the RPG genre or fans who cut their RPG teeth on games like Morrowind, Mass Effect and Fallout 3 will find absolutely nothing of worth in Risen. Its increased difficulty, slow pace, steep learning curve, rigid NPCs (except for a few, notably Patty) and ambivalence towards the player’s need for guidance during quests will confuse and aggravate anyone who isn’t accustomed to European CRPGs. Only a small minority of cranky, hard-to-please hardcore gamers like myself find these types of RPGs enjoyable, and because of this, your typical gamer won’t tolerate Risen for very long.

Beware however that the review contains mild story spoilers.

Two new reviews for RISEN have appeared.

TheEscapist gives no rating in numbers but says that they cannot recommend to buy the game for 50$. They criticice the graphics and animations, the combat system and the skill system which requires you to learn at a trainer instead of immediately spending them on the character screen.

CVG has rated the PC version of the game 8.5. The say the combat system is functional and smooth and praise the many different non-combat skills. They conclude: "Risen is a solid, engrossing and beautifully presented RPG that's well worth your time and money."
