[Article] Review at destructoid.com - Risen 2 is "Good"
Jim Sterling has written a review at destructoid.com which comes to the conclusion, that Risen 2 is a good game.
It's very interesting to read the beginning of the review where Sterling explains that Risen 2: Dark Waters is a very difficult game with some problems in the gameplay, like Risen has been. Surprisingly, he had much more fun in playing Risen 2, than he had with its predecessor.
The author enjoyed the skilling system, he likes the character of the game, which means that the player has to earn his strenght (although he gets demoralized, when he isn't strong enough yet) and he likes the feeling, when he reached to become strong enough to defeat the next stronger enemy. The visual appearance of the game is better than in Risen but doesn't reach the quality of Skyrim.
Generally, the humour in Risen 2 is very enjoyable but Sterling assumed that some people would be irritated by a few passages, that could be interpreted as sexistic or racist.
Sterling passes criticism on the long time, you need to become strong enough (although he likes it, when he has reached this moment), on the imbalance at some points of the game and on some points of the interface.
At the end, Sterling realises, that Risen 2 is a game not easy to make a review for:
He comes to a rating of 7.0/10 which classifies Risen 2: Dark Waters as a "good" game.

What Piranha Bytes has developed could have been a thoroughly supreme game, one that could have gone toe to toe with the heavyweights of action role-playing. Due to a number of highly questionable design decisions, however, a lot of that potential has withered away. With so much lost, it's perhaps a testament to how talented the team secretly is that Risen 2 is still packed with fun in the face of truly inhibiting setbacks.
That deserves a modest round of applause, at the very least.

Charles Onyett hat written a review to Risen 2: Dark Waters at the website of IGN. The review is a little bit more critical, although there's lots of praise for Risen 2 in certain points, the disappointment of the author seems to predominate.
Positive are the environments, the sound, the voice - acting (with some exceptions), some of the characters, the kind in which quests and story are connected to the pirate theme and the search for legendary items.
On the other side, the reviewer don't like the character animations, the voice acting of a few of the characters, the cumbersome interface, the sword fighting against monsters, the underdeveloped voodoo - system and the little reason to play the game again after finishing the story.
In the conflicting conclusion the author finally ends his explanations with a disappointed look at the lost chances that haven't been taken:
The Rating is 6.5/10 which means that Risen 2 is "Okay".

If you desperately to role-play as a pirate, you certainly can in Risen 2, but you'll also find little that's memorable, and a multitude of poorly implemented ideas and missed opportunities.

There are three new videos of Risen 2 at IGN.com.
The first video shows the hero fighting some fire birds and craps during a time of one minute and sixteen seconds.
In the second video, the hero ist exploring the Isle of the Dead. It's a litte bit longer than the first one, 1:20 minutes.
Last video shows the exploration of a temple. It's quite shorter than the other videos with a duration of thirty-nine seconds.

There has been presented a new monster at the official website of publisher Deep Silver to Risen 2: Dark Waters.
It's the ant warrior und let's see what the description tells us about him:
It seems, that the nameless hero has to have some qualities of an exterminator, if he wants to succeed against the ant warrior.

Ants are normally more peaceful by nature as they primarily explore the area looking for new loot, but they are always on the look out for any potential danger. If the ants were disturbed in their work or provoked, they turn into frenzied monsters surrounding their opponents, spitting acid on them and engaging them with their sharp claws until the enemy flees or lays dead on the ground.
It seems, that the nameless hero has to have some qualities of an exterminator, if he wants to succeed against the ant warrior.
