Contest "The last fight in Risen" - mazare - (22/36)
...As the stroke of his longsword finally drew blood, a quick spin motions delivered the finishing blow. The fight was finished yet he fell no relief, his foe was vanquished yet he felt terrible remorse, instead of feeling like a conquering hero he felt like murderer, like it was his fault, like he could have ended it from the beginning and avoid all the bloodshed. The hero placed his sword into the ground steadfast trying to ignore the pain caused by his wounds and made his way toward the inquisitor’s corpse. He knew the inquisitor was dead but with the innocence of a child he leaned over his corpse to see if he was still breathing. The massive hole in the chest didn’t give the inquisitor a chance. How could such a powerful mage be defeated? This doesn’t make any sense the hero said to himself trying to remember. With cold logic he tried to place the pieces of memory in order to make sense of it all. He decided to leave the beach where it all began and where it all ended. He stepped away from the inquisitor’s corpse, grabbed his sword and headed towards his defeated enemy. As he approached the witch’s body all he could remember was the battle. He remembered the inquisitor and the witch locked into a magic contest of will. The magic was so intense in the point the rays intersected that it melted the sand into glass. However the witch was mightier and the inquisitor yielded, dropping broken on the ground. The hero witnessing this began to run towards the witch. As he was quickly closing the gap, the witch threw two fireballs at him. He easily dodged one of them but the other nearly hit him. Following the fireballs, a powerful force wave hit the hero and he fell stunned. The witch drew her sword and magically threw it at the downed hero. With his dying breath the inquisitor conjured a force field around the hero and deflected the sword. The witch turned towards inquisitor and finished him. The hero recovered, jumped back of his feet and charged furiously towards the witch. He swigged his sword twice but hit nothing but air. Aware of his opponent’s power he used his wits instead. Using a telekinesis spell he managed to lift some sand and throw at her. Distracted for a second she was not aware of the mighty sword aimed at her head...
Although many questions were answered many still remained.
Why did she do this? Why didn’t I just leave her do die?
Why did it have to be Sara?
