31.12.2008 00:15 [Fragebögen] Marke Jelen (Orkze) [en]
Our russian Partnersite Piranha Club managed to get some members of Piranha Bytes to fill a question paper they created.

Here are the answers from Marko Jelen, known in the forum as "Orkze".

1) Name of the Piranha
Marko Jelen

2) Age
22

3) What profession are you trained in (i.e. I remember that Björn Pankratz mentioned in a video that he used to be a school teacher)?
Media tech and designer (BSc)

4) What is you job at Piranha Bytes?
3D Artist

5) What was the first computer game you played in your life? And are you still playing it from time to time?
Surely Solitaire or Minesweeper but the first big game was "Settlers 2 - Veni, Vidi, Vici". That was when I thought that I wanted to make something like that, too.
I do not play the old originals anymore but luckily there are enough newer parts.

6) What game are you currently playing?
Assassins Creed on the company's Xbox, The Witcher and Settlers 6 on my PC at home.

7) Do you like reading and if yes what is your favorite book?
Yes, I like reading very much. I read one book of Terry Pratchett after the other but my favorite book is "Hagen of Troy" from (Hohlbein).

8) Do prefer to read the book in the electronic form or as a real book you can hold in your hands?
Real book, of course. I spend enough time in front of a monitor already.

9) What is your favorite film genre?
Difficult decision, I only know that I do not like Horror at all.

10) What is your favorite movie (it's okay to state more than one if you find it hard to choose only one)?
The Great Escape (from 1963)

11) What is your favorite movie character?
Tony Montana! 8-)

12) Your favorite music?
Metal and Reggae, currently Dethklok

13) Do you listen to classical music and does it inspire you at your work (if you're allowed to hear music there, of course)?
see question 12

14) Your favorite food?
Definitely lasagna.

15) What is your favorite beverage?
Apple cider *hic*

16) Do you do any sports and if so what form?
Not really, sadly. Until a year ago, I was part of a re-enactment group for historial fighting. But I stopped with that after I moved here.

17) Do you have a hobby? Or is the work your hobby?
I have enough of those, luckily. I play the bagpipe, am active live roleplayer, crazy about board games and of course do some 3D in my spare time as well.

18) Do you have any pets at home? Perhaps a dog, a cat or a fish - like a piranha?
No.

19) So you have children? If so, did they also play your games? (I remember a story which Johnny Depp told in an interview. He came home in the costume of Jack to give his children a pleasure and they only said: "Dad, don't bother us, go away, we're watching Spierman!")
No, that can still wait for a few years.

20) Do any of your friends or family play your games?
Yes, my younger brother for instance.

21) How do they like them?
Up to today, they always found something to grouse about.

22) If they critizise the game does this help you for later projects, like RPB [working title of RISEN]
Not so much since RPB is much bigger than anything I did before.

23) How do you usually spend your holidays?
At home in Austria or at places with untouched nature (last year I was in Iceland for example, great landscape!)

24) Do you like travelling and what country would you like to visit the most?
A change of scene once a year is okay but I don't want to have it too often. I'm more a cosy type. I especially like Austria and Iceland.

25) Have been to Russia before? If not, would you like to visit Moscow or Saint Peterburg? Or more some exotical place like the sibirian taiga or the Altai mountains?
Alas, not yet. But a visit there is planned, that is why I'm currently learning russian.
