It is a game that I am sure will be patched several times over on the PC and made into the great experience that it could be. I like the ideas behind combat, the main story and the interactions between your crew and NPCs, but every time you start to enjoy Risen 2, it sucker punches you in the groin and kicks dirt in your face. I think there is a lot to enjoy, but give yourself time to dig in and get the full experience."

Auf der offiziellen Website des Publishers Deep Silver zu Risen 2 - Dark Waters sind inzwischen alle der dort aufgeführten Monster enthüllt worden.

Das letzte Monster hierbei ist der Ghul gewesen. Auf der Website heißt es in der Beschreibung dazu (Auszug):

Ghule waren einst Menschen, die während des ersten Titanenkrieges als Späher und Kundschafter der verschiedenen Eingeborenenstämme eingesetzt wurden. Die Bindung zu ihren früheren Herren, den Titanenlords, war so stark, dass nicht einmal der Tod sie von ihrer Pflicht befreien konnte. Nun wachen sie als Vorhut der Armee der Untoten über die alten Ruinen der neuen Welt.

- Risen 2 Tuning Utility:

Risen 2 Tune - небольшая утилита, с помощью которой Вы можете изменять такие параметры как автосейв, статическая камера, сло-мо, систему подсказок, язык игры, параметры экрана и многое другое...

- Risen 2 FNT Editor:

С помощью FNT Editor можно изменять название файлов шрифтов, размер шрифтов, язык и резрешение экрана (по высоте ) к которому они будут привязаны.

Auch bei den Schweizern von Gbase.ch ist ein Test zu Risen 2 erschienen. Tester Daniel Boll lobt die Musikuntermalung, das Kampfsystem, die gute Performance mit nur wenigen Rucklern beim Nachladen (SSD), die mehreren Lösungswege bei einigen Quests, die Grafik, den Humor und die vielen, optional vorhandenen, Komfortfunktionen des Spieles.

Kritik äußert er an der Sprachausgabe, den GeForce-Grafikfehlern, dem weniger starken Sammelsucht-Faktor, dem Aufpoppen bestimmter Dinge im Spiel, der Anspruchslosigkeit des Spieles in mehrfacher Hinsicht, den Fehlern der KI, dem Spielstand-System, der zum Teil wirren Struktur der Quests und dem unübersichtlichen Inventar.

In seinem recht langen Fazit lobt er dann Risen 2 zum einen als eines der wenigen Spiele dieser Art, die für ihn von der Tendenz her an sein Lieblingsrollenspiel Gothic 2: Die Nacht des Raben heranreichen. Andererseits findet er hier auch Kritik für den schlechten Patchsupport am Vorgänger Risen, bei dem am Ende wieder die Community einige Dinge per Patch nachbessern musste.

Risen 2 selber bewertet er aber insgesamt durchaus sehr positiv:

Ja, Risen 2 - Dark Waters ist nicht perfekt und lässt vieles vermissen, das ich mir als Fan der ersten beiden Gothic-Teile gewünscht hätte. Und doch war die rund 28-stündige Odyssee gegen Maras Armeen das beste Rollenspielerlebnis seit langem für mich.

Folgerichtig erhält das Spiel mit 8.0/10 auch eine gute Wertung.

GameBanshee reviews the Treasure Isle DLC - and suspects that it was cut out of the game for the sole purpose of making it a DLC.

"It's very difficult for me to endorse "Treasure Isle", and it's not something I say lightly since I'm a supporter of Piranha Bytes' design and I can't say I had a bad time with it. To the contrary, taken as a simple questline in the full title, "Treasure Isle" would deserve nothing but praise for its simple but entertaining pirate-y tale. As downloadable content though, "Treasure Isle" feels unsubstantial and lacking, which, coupled with its seamless integration with the released title and day 1 release, fuels suspicion that this is just cut content sold for a hefty price."

"Risen 2 is by-the-by a solid game. It largely gets the basics right and brings a few extra goodies to set itself apart from the norm, but some will be too frustrated with the annoying design flaws to appreciate it. Although there are no great risks or innovations, there are no major flaws either. If you can forgive the little quirks and idiosyncrasies you’ll be rewarded with a generally humorous and entertaining experience - if only there was no “if” at the start of the sentence.... who knows what Risen 2 could have been?"

"What you’ll like:

Risen 2′s world is worth getting lost in
When everything works as intended the game presents extremely gorgeous visuals
There’s some memorable characters that you’ll meet while questing

What you might not like:

Weird visual bugs, such as morphing vegetation
The game starts off extremely boring – it has a bad first impression
The combat never becomes satisfying, just more tolerable"

"Bad combat mechanics made it dreadful to explore and actually had me trying to avoid combat because of how frustrating and unenjoyable it truly is. A lack of choices in how to go about combat does not compliment your ability to choose how you wish to execute a quest. Instead, combat pigeon-holes you into choosing a sword or gun related class if you want to do any damage. Many features of Risen 2: Dark Waters take a lengthy period of time to come into their own, but there are some really great moments in this pirate RPG. The game is not awful in its entirety, but it definitely needs some more attention paid to some of the core aspects. "
