Marcos Duarte, the Community Manager of Deep Silver, wrote in our forum, that it is not necessary to keep the DVD of the normal retail version of RISEN in your DVD drive all the time. The DVD will only be checked once during the start of the game.

We updated our copy protection FAQ in that matter.
