[Official] Risen 2 will come with DRM
As Daniel Oberlerchner, brand manager of Deep Silver, just explained in our forum, Risen 2 will be outfitted with the so called "Steam copy protection". This means that - while you can play the game without the DVD in the drive - you will be required to get permission from Deep Silver via Valve's Steam software to play it. This is called online activation and effectively removes ownership of the purchased game at the benefit of not needing the DVD anymore.

We diligently reviewed many solutions in the last couple of years and in the case of Risen 2 we decided to use the Steam-Plattform from Valve on a worldwide basis.

You will only be required to be online once to link your game to your Steam account and afterwards you will be able to play offline and without DVD in the drive.
